John-Jules Meyer's lecture on Intelligent Agents

In the lecture on November 9th 2011, organised by KIVI NIRIA, John-Jules Meyer introduced the concept of "intelligent agent" from a philosophical perspective, based on ideas of Aristotle, Dennett and Bratman. He showes what the (potential) applications of the paradigm of agent technology are and how intelligent agents can be realized. Furthermore, he will get into current research on incorporating emotions in agents and applications that his group, in cooperation with TNO in the field of virtual characters in games. If time permits, he will also discuss the important philosophical question of whether artificial intelligence is actually possible in the sense that we are able to create "thinking" computers.

KIVI NIRIA is the Dutch association for engineers and engineering students. With 25.000 members KIVI NIRIA is the largest engineering association in the Netherlands.
